Job Summary:
The Weighbridge Operator is responsible for accurately weighing all incoming and outgoing vehicles, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal weight limits. This role involves operating and maintaining the weighbridge equipment, recording and verifying weight data, assisting drivers, and monitoring safety in the weighbridge area. The operator plays a key role in ensuring precise vehicle weight measurements, supporting smooth operations, and providing reliable information for production, logistics, and customer transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Operate the weighbridge system to accurately weigh all incoming and outgoing vehicles.
  2. Ensure vehicles are correctly positioned on the scale for precise weight readings.
  3. Verify that the type of load being weighed (e.g., raw materials, waste, finished goods) matches the documentation provided.
  4. Enter weight data into the system accurately and consistently for all transactions.
  5. Maintain clear and up-to-date records of vehicle movements and weighbridge transactions (both manual and digital).
  6. Generate weighbridge tickets, including essential details such as vehicle ID, weight, time, and type of load.
  7. Assist drivers and operators with weighbridge procedures and provide necessary guidance.
  8. Communicate with customers to ensure they understand weighing processes, charges, and compliance requirements.
  9. Ensure all weighbridge operations comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal weight limits.
  10. Monitor, identify, and report any discrepancies or unusual weight readings to management or maintenance teams.
  11. Carry out regular checks and calibrations of the weighbridge equipment to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  12. Report maintenance issues promptly and follow up to ensure that timely repairs or adjustments are completed.
  13. Monitor the weighbridge area to identify and report potential safety hazards.
  14. Conduct periodic verification to ensure the accuracy and reliability of weight data.
  15. Investigate discrepancies in recorded weights and determine potential causes (e.g., improper loading, vehicle movement, equipment error).

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree holder in any field.
  2. Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a similar role is often preferred.
  3. Prior exposure to industrial operations and logistics environments is advantageous.
